UX Design Goals
The main purpose of UX design is to give users what they need in the most pleasant way possible. There are two interconnected processes. First, users' expectations are always growing. And second, requirements to UX design of applications are continuously becoming higher. One leads to another, so it's impossible to say which one is the reason and which one is the consequence. In this article. we will discuss what goals UX designers should set.
Simplicity
We use apps to simplify our life that is overwhelmed with hundreds of tasks. Uber, for example, became popular not because it offered something new, people were hailing cabs way before Uber came out. What Uber offered was a quick, simple way to hail a cab. Just a few clicks was all it took to get a ride. Simplification is the main pillar of UX design so it always stays relevant. New generations of digital products try to become easier to use than their predecessors.
Stand Out
This is one of the most challenging user experience goals, especially for designers who are just starting off. This is because such things as following the trends and crafting unique applications sound mutually exclusive to many people. Keeping track of the latest trends is important because it helps us get the big picture. What do users like / dislike? How do the popular apps make user journeys hassle-free and pleasant? How high are the users' expectations when it comes to our type of app? And what features should be included by default? Without uniqueness, our app will get lost in a sea of similar apps. We should strive to hone the ability to filter best practices that might be applied to our product and use them in a unique way.
Consistency
The number of devices people use is not limited just to a laptop and smartphone. Smartwatches, TV sets, tablets etc can all be connected to the Internet and people may use them to access their favorite applications. This is the reason why we need to be concerned about consistency. Users are creatures of a habit. As users, we expect that our experience with a particular app will be the same regardless of the device we use it on. Designers not only need to create a stunning UX design for web or mobile, but we also have to think about how to make it consistent and predictable across different platforms.
Whatever we do, we always need to try to put ourselves in the user's shoes. Asking such simple questions as Is the product easy to use? How do I feel after an interaction with this app? Will it solve my problems? Keeping these things in mind will help our app become successful and and out in a sea of other apps.
